On life’s pleasures
After 11 years of dancing with FDCD, Melanie Neptuno shares with Tinette Samala-Pudda her greatest pleasures in being able to teach new students, paving the way for them to become expert dancers
Melanie Neptuno
Dance Instructor
One of the enduring members of FDCD, Melanie has given her all out support to the Club in her varied roles as member, Dance Instructress and ex-Officer during the first three years of its formation.
Melanie has the passion for dancing. “I love dancing as it is a very healthy form of exercise that makes me look youthful and THAT makes me feel good,” she confides with a twinkle in her eyes.
Just like most of the students, members and officers of FDCD, who work so hard during the week, Friday is something that Melanie looks forward to.
All work and no play makes Jill a dull girl, and so Melanie enjoys herself to the hilt when she gets to learn new steps in the Advanced Classes, i.e. salsa, rumba and jive. The greatest pleasure is being able to teach new students the basic steps of boogie, swing, tango and cha-cha, that will pave the way for them to become expert dancers.
“Eleven years ago, there were only about 30 of us, members and students that is, and we held our dance sessions in cramped venues,” Melanie narrates. The Club has grown exponentially and the Friday Dance Clinic is held in a relatively spacious venue that can accommodate the ever growing number of students/instructors that attend our sessions.
